Ahmad grows chili and ginger on 5 acres in the hills of Bukit Tinggi. Both crops are bound for local markets, but the land comes with a challenge: steep slopes that make the soil vulnerable to erosion during heavy rain.

This farm represents the reality of cultivating high-value crops on physically demanding terrain. In order to overcome the challenges, the SHE Intelligence team recommends applying compost heavily to ensure and improve crop grade and health, planting legume/biomass cover between cash cycles to maintain living roots for better soil aggregation, and applying mulch on exposed beds to protect underground microorganisms.

Together, we're learning how to introduce regenerative principles conservatively—stabilizing the slope first, protecting the soil, and slowly improving function without sacrificing livelihood. It's not about quick wins, but building resilience that lasts.
